Eating sand and loving it! Our Las Vegas Sunbuggy experience.
When someone says the word “Vegas” what are the first things that pop into your head? Gambling? Drinking? Buffets? Party?
While we definitely love having a good time, we decided that our last trip to Vegas would be a little more… active. For the both of us, it was the fifth time that we had been to Sin City and we were ready to leave the buffet lines and the overcrowded strip in exchange for a more thrilling experience. Vegas offers way more than overflowing drinks and loose morals and we couldn’t wait to embrace the fun outside of the flashing lights.

Ready to get dirty, and prepared for an adventure, we decided to book ourselves an hour-long ride with Las Vegas Sunbuggy.
The Experience:
Nothing could quite prepare us for the thrilling and adrenaline-filled experience that we had. Thanks to our guide, Malibu (aka Frank) we were able to roar through the dunes and kick up as much sand as Jafar from Aladdin. Personally, my favorite part was catching air and soaring over the dune peaks at max speed.
Sunbuggy fun rentals offers something for every member of your family. For the extreme thrill-seekers we’d highly recommend the Vegas Mini Baja Chase. Your main goal is to chase one of Sunbuggy’s expert dunies. It’s not for the faint of heart. You’ll be cruising at high speeds and the ride will be bumpy. Soar over dunes and taste a little sand. It’s perfect for any adrenaline junkie.
If you’d like to go at a slower pace or have young children in your party, don’t fret. There’s plenty of fun to go around. Sunbuggy offers a variety of different tours that offer all the fun of the desert, at a more tame pace. These tours will allow you to take in the scenery while also giving you a thrilling experience. You can even take the whole family and/or office in one of their massive 12-seaters!
The Extras:

One of the most impressive aspects of Sunbuggy rentals is that they do all of their work in-house. The buggies themselves are built on-site and are maintained in the shop located right behind the sign-in center. The only part of the sunbuggy that isn’t made in the shop is its motor. We were fortunate enough to get a behind the scenes tour. You’ll have to check out the video to see just what happens behind closed doors.
Things to know before you go:
While you’re pretty much guaranteed to have a fun time at Sunbuggy Fun Rentals, there are a few things to keep in mind to make your experience as enjoyable as possible. While it can get extremely hot in the Las Vegas desert, we’d highly recommend wearing long pants and shoes that completely cover your feet. There’s a strong chance that you’ll be covered in sand once your ride is finished. Sandy legs and toes can be extremely uncomfortable and you might find sand in un-welcomed places. If you’re participating in the mini baja chase we can guarantee that you’ll look like the Sandman once you’re done. The more coverage, the better.

Women (and tank-top wearing men), it’s also recommended to wear a t-shirt or another shirt that will cover your chest. For safety you’ll be strapped into a 4-point seat belt that might become uncomfortable during your ride. If you happen to forget a t-shirt, no problem. You’ll be given your own sunbuggy shirt to use while there.

The video is great. And those dune buggies look like SO much fun!
How refreshing to see a post about Vegas that is totally different to what people associate this place with? Loved the video – someone had a bit of fun!
Ahhh, that looks like so much fun!! My hubs would TOTALLY love it. We’ll have to check it out next time we’re in Vegas!
Oh man…I have got to do this next time in Vegas. It’s not something I’d normally choose to do, but sounds like a blast…
I’m headed to Vegas in a few weeks. I’ve probably visited Sin City 40 times since I was 22 and I’ve NEVER done anything like this. I think the most active thing I’ve done in Vegas is running to the bathroom so I didn’t miss a hand of blackjack. Fun stuff, Tawny and Chris!
So need to do this.
stay adventurous, Craig
this looks more up our alley than the standard vegas vacations. love it!
been to sin city a few times now and will definitely go back. BUT just like you, i’d look for some new and different things to do upon next return. after the daytime shenanigans i’d go out for a yummy dinner in my glittery dress and drink many a cocktail on the strip. who says you can’t have all?!
After falling out of the top 100 travel blogs, the loose morals, gambling, and overflowing drinks were my scene. I hope to make it back on and escape the seedy side of places like Vegas and return to adventure. When I do, this place would be high on the list.
OK this is the Vegas I can get on board with! This looks absolutely fantastic!
