We are headed to India as CheapOair’s Travelers of the Year!
I honestly don’t even know where to begin. The last few weeks have been complete madness. Most of you know that we entered ourselves into CheapOair’s Traveler of the Year contest. We had to submit a video that we made in order to enter ourselves. Once we made it to the final round, it went to votes. The people/teams that landed in the top two spots were going to win trips abroad. One team would head to India and the other would depart for China.
We were in the lead for quite a while but ended up falling behind towards the end. We thought that we were definitely out of the running. Last Tuesday, as we were packing our bags to head to the other side of the state, I received a phone call. It was CheapOair calling to inform us that we ended up coming in second place and they wanted to send us to India! Insert crazy, banshee screams of joy here.
This video should pretty much sum everything up.
INDIA!!! I can’t even begin to tell you how excited we are. Without doubt, India is the one country that’s been at the top of my bucket list for years. Ever since I first laid eyes on a picture of the Taj Mahal, I knew I had to visit at least once in my life.
We’re still hashing out the fine details of our trip, but it looks like we’ll definitely be hitting the Taj Mahal, Mumbai Octoberfest, Ramoji Film City Festival, and incredible cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, Jaisalmer, and Hampi! We have 30 days to see as much of India as possible and show our viewers how we travel the world for less. To get at the moment updates, simply follow the hashtag #traveltheworld4less while we’re away.
While Chris has spent a little time in India prior, this is my first time and we want all of the helpful tips and tricks that you can give us. We’d love recommendations on places to eat and sleep. Any advice on places to avoid would be appreciated as well. Please leave all of your tips in the comment section below. More than anything, we’re just extremely excited for this incredible opportunity.
Congratulations! You kids are gonna have a hoot!! 🙂

LOVE this and y’all. And as a reward for stuffing the ballot box in your favor (sorry, I didn’t get you first place, but I needed to add some suspense), I’ll stow away with you for two weeks in India. Please send a packing list and the travel itinerary over ASAP.
You’d be welcome onboard. You and Tawny can hit the sari shops together, I’m not looking forward to her shopping plans. ; )
Okay guys, you’re going to my hometown. Seriously, I was born there. And seriously you’d better visit my hometown because I’ll ask you test questions. Umm, kay? Have a GREAT TRIP!

You won a month-long trip in India!?! That’s pretty amazing. You’ll have a great time no doubt. Probably also some bad ones, but that;s India. Anyway, the real reason I’m commenting….Mumbai has an Oktoberfest?!? Why did I not know about this when I was in India??
If you are in Mdaurai it is well worth trying out the Heritage hotel.
There is a famous temple in Madurai to see and the scenery is lovely.
I hope you’ve brought your anti-malaria pills.
Many congratulations and hope you enjoyed the trip.
