Capturing travel memories with Flytographer
Now that Chris and I have a place to call our own, I want nothing more than to decorate it with cute personal touches. And while we take thousands of pictures on our travels, we barely have any decent ones that include the both of us in the same shot. Sure, we take the occasional selfie, but it would be nice to have a few photos of the two of us to frame on our wall. It’s a good thing that Chris has long arms. Every time I try to fit both of us in a selfie someone ends up with only half a face.
Oh, and all of our mirror shots are epic fails. Exhibit A:
We also have trust issues when asking fellow travelers to capture photos of us. I can’t even count the number of times Chris has tightly squeezed my hand as we watched tourists fumble with our expensive camera equipment. It’s hard to watch as someone else handles the technology that helps you make a living. We also end up with some of the worst shots ever.
Friends, we’re happy to announce that our days of horrible selfies and entrusting our camera in the hands of clumsy tourists are over. Step in our new best friend, Flytographer.
The idea behind Flytographer is that a professional photographer stealthily follows you around while on your trip and captures mind blowing photos of you. The results are epic. After seeing a few of our friends take Flytographer for a spin, we knew we just had to try it for ourselves. We weren’t disappointed.
After careful consideration, we agreed that we wanted our first Flytographer shoot to take place in a country that we’ve never been to before. We chose Ljubljana, Slovenia as it’s a city that we knew very little about. Our 30-minute Flytographer shoot started with us meeting our photographer, the talented Mankica, outside of the famous Ljubljana Puppet Theatre and we immediately knew that this was going to be a fun experience.
We quickly scurried (via funicular) to the top of Ljubljana Castle. This medieval fortress was the ideal place to capture photos as Chris and I explored.
We had so much fun running around the fortress as Mankica snapped away. She was careful to give us our space but also suggest ideas on how we could capture some ridiculously awesome photos. Mankica was also very knowledgeable about the area. Hailing from Ljubljana, she educated us on the city’s past and also gave recommendations on some of the best cafes and restaurants to try.
After taking a ton of pictures in the fortress, we decided to move our session outside of the walls. The leaves on the trees were striking and we were able to get a few extra photos in before our time was up. Once our shoot came to a close, Mankica personally escorted us to Ziferblat, a cafe experience that needs a blog post of its own. We drank a few coffees and talked about the beauty of Ljubljana before we went our separate ways.
Guys, I cannot even tell you how awesome our photo shoot with Mankica was. Being in over 100 cities worldwide, Chris and I promised that we would use Flytographer at least once a year. This was all agreed on before we even received our pictures. And unlike most photography sessions, we didn’t have to wait weeks before our stunning photos were edited and delivered. Flytographer guarantees to have your photos to you within FIVE days of your shoot. FIVE DAYS, PEOPLE!
The only problem we face now is how to narrow down which pictures make it in frames. We love them all! We can’t believe it’s taken us so long to get on board with this wonderful way to remember a trip. And the best part? These are souvenirs that you’ll have for forever and they don’t take up ANY room in your suitcase!
And now I’ll leave you with my favorite photo of the two of us. This one is definitely going up on the wall.
Special thanks to the wonderful people at Flytographer for this incredible experience. While our first session was given in exchange for a review, our options are (and will remain) our own. We’re more than happy to book future sessions with this innovative company.
